Baby Bellies!
Yoga class at TVP? No… I’m helping my friend Sarah Longacre create images for her brand new yoga studio! “Blooma”, conveniently located on 44th and France, will offer pre and postnatal yoga classes, massage therapy AND onsite childcare. What a concept!?! Watch for a grand opening event sometime in early October…

Through yoga, massage, childbirth education and a community of support and well-being, Blooma nurtures the mind, body and spirit of moms-to-be, new mamas and their families.

Our GG…

30/01/07

As some of you know, I’ve been traveling back and forth to Wisconsin over the last couple of weeks, spending some time with my 94 year old grandmother. GG, as my children affectionately call her, fell in her home a couple of weeks ago. The trauma from the fracture she sustained has sent her into a quick downward spiral. Her wishes have been made clear, so we are just focusing on helping GG feel safe, loved and comfortable. I mixed up some massage oil using patchouli, frankincense, sandalwood and lavender. The nurses love coming in the room, just because it always smells good! :) We put together some music to play when she’s awake… eventually, we brought in a cd player, but for the first couple of days, she was the only 94-year-old in the hospital with an iPod. Emily, Ben and Joseph put together a large display board featuring pictures of GG when she was a young girl, a shy bride, and a new mother… they plastered it full of messages and propped it up at her bedside. Not only did this bring her some joy, but also gave the people who are taking care of her, a little glimpse into her life. There was a wonderful little moment, when we were showing her the picture board for the first time, and she was struggling to tell us something. I didn’t realize it, but that day happened to be my late grandfather’s birthday… he’s been gone for 20 years, but he would have been 104 on that very day. She was so relieved when we figured out what she was trying to say and I said “well, then it’s a good thing we’re having this little party tonight!” GG smiled and nodded and went on perusing the display. I’ve put together a collection of those old images, along with some from the last several days… Click on the first image below to view a slide show and a little song for gg…
