Hello... thank you for checking out Tanya Villano Photography... I hope you've found my artwork unique and inspirational.
Even as a little girl, I loved looking at photographs... many an afternoon was spent thumbing through old family polaroids, faded b&w prints and dusty scrapbooks in my grandmother's attic. Holding one of these little jewels up to the window light and recognizing a pair of eyes or a smile from a generation or two before, brought pure and tangible joy. And then, of course, came the barrage of questions... Why was everyone celebrating that day? Why is this little girl crying? Was that your puppy? Where are they now? That house was torn down? He drove a convertable? Did she love him? Wasn't she beautiful? ... and then came the stories, both sad and sweet, from days gone by. These memories, stories and lovely archival treasures are now shared with my children.
Although I started my artistic career with b&w film and an array of vintage cameras... and lots of exposure to darkroom chemistry... I now shoot with digital equipment... and work in the digital darkroom. The final images I create are stylized in a way that emulates those of film and cameras from the past. I like grain... shadows... sun flares... texture. And I strive to capture intimate moments, moods, emotions, relationships. In other words, I'm not too concerned with whether or not everyone is looking at the camera and smiling.
Whether your goal is to create stunning wall art for your home, a lovely bound album for the mantle, or a sweet box of small prints to enjoy holding close to your heart, let me know what you are envisioning, and we will create it together.
“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.”
